University of Mannheim
Optimised learning and working environment
The University of Mannheim commissioned Westermann to deliver a contemporary interior fit-out covering an area of around 400 square metres. Integrating the room-high installations into the listed historic building was a challenging task, executed precisely and meticulously by Westermann from start to finish.
An important aspect was ensuring efficient ventilation circulation to create a pleasant indoor climate. At the same time, the extensive and complex building services had to be integrated invisibly and optimally. Through thoughtful planning and clever solutions, an ideal balance between functionality and aesthetics was achieved. The use of oak panels and seamless, white solid-surface materials created a visually appealing "silhouette cut" that meets modern requirements while harmoniously embedded into the historic building.
And not only that: the upholstery on the wall claddings and seating groups was also professionally executed by Westermann. High-quality felt materials and bespoke padding improve the room acoustics by effectively reducing the noise level. As a result, students and lecturers can concentrate better and communicate without disturbance.
