The new meeting places of the Körber Foundation

In the heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity, the Körber Foundation has revived its headquarters and created a space that fosters young entrepreneurship. At the same time, the new KörberHaus in Hamburg-Bergedorf stands as a symbol for cultural diversity and intergenerational encounters. In both buildings we have created flexible spaces with modern spatial and acoustic elements that can transform from offices into lively dialogue spaces in an instant.

The goal was clear: to create an agile working environment that effortlessly adapts to different activities. In the existing building in particular, implementing an acoustic concept in line with DIN 18041 was a real challenge. Added to this was the requirement to deliver a coherent colour concept across both locations.

With our innovative spatial system flomo wall, we have created spaces that are intuitively zoned and at the same time improve the acoustics. Colour-coordinated felt fillings ensure that the slidable elements provide visual and acoustic screening as required, or open up the space for maximum openness. The flomo boards – magnetic writing surfaces in DIN A0 format – are always within reach and offer plenty of space for creative ideas. They can be hung on wall rails and act there like artworks, forming a harmonious and functional ensemble together with the colourful acoustic elements.

Flexibility also shows in the furnishing: the lightweight Xbrick® multifunctional furniture pieces can be used in many ways – whether as a seating stool, sit-stand unit, seating tier, table or platform. The result is a well-considered overall concept that is equally suited for focused work and for workshops and meetings.

With these new spaces, the Körber Foundation offers ideal conditions for exchange and collaboration between different groups in society. The flexible spatial concept reflects the foundation’s core: the focus on dialogue and an understanding of different perspectives.
