Successful delivery of a complex large-scale project in Luxembourg

Large-scale construction projects are demanding and full of surprises. This reference project is a shining example of the collaboration, adaptability and determination needed to successfully complete even the most complex projects.

Since June 2023, the state health and accident insurance has been welcoming its insured persons at the Cité de la sécurité sociale in Luxembourg-Gare. The extensive interior fit-out spanned 1.5 years and encompassed varied tasks such as wall claddings, tea kitchens, washbasin units, windowsills, fire-extinguisher cabinets, the fit-out of the conference areas and counter installations. In addition, we equipped around 350 offices with about 800 individual and built-in cabinets. The total contract volume was €6.5 million.

The construction site in Luxembourg was characterised by numerous challenges. The working language on site was French, which is why our site manager communicated in that language. 25–30 fitters were deployed on site. Some of the fitters spoke Ukrainian, which posed a challenge for assembly and project management. Supply problems and delays caused by the after-effects of the Corona pandemic and the war in Ukraine complicated scheduling and led to price adjustments. Logistics on site were complicated, since the delivery situation changed frequently and space in the city centre was limited.

The project was characterised by international collaboration. The architects of BLK2 from Hamburg were responsible for the building design. All companies and partners involved communicated regularly via video conferences with the on-site teams. Despite all these challenges and the immense time pressure due to the fixed move-in date, the project was successfully completed.
