Where space becomes a stage, more than architecture comes into being. That is exactly where our project starts – presented in the collected volume “Favourite projects” of the office+objekt edition 2025.

At Heidelberg Congress Center, areas turn into experiences. Opened under the motto “Space is performance” and designed by the architecture office Degelo of Basel, it serves as a platform for congresses and creative networking. This versatility called for flexible furnishing that enables a wide range of event formats.

Together with the design studio wd3, we developed the modular system space companion: adaptable elements that turn from seating landscapes into standing tables or room dividers with a single hand movement. Together with the lightweight multifunctional Xbrick®, this creates a stage for congresses, creative exchange and inspiring encounters.

And in the interior fit-out of Heidelberg Congress Center, Westermann shows its technical and craftsmanship expertise with tailor-made solutions and high reliability. Precisely manufactured interior fit-out solutions made of regional woods round off the concept and lend the spacious rooms elegance and durability. A “favourite project” that shows just how flexible and lively spatial design can be.
