High-Tech in the Trade: the Hilti Jaibot

The listed “Old Barrel Filling Hall” in Monheim is being transformed into the Kulturraffinerie K714, a modern cultural centre with halls, foyers and meeting rooms for theatre, concerts, dance and traditional events. State-of-the-art technology such as the Hilti Jaibot drilling robot is used for the conversion, performing thousands of wall drillings precisely and efficiently. The project combines premium interior fit-out, acoustics and sound insulation with heritage protection and revitalisation.
On the Monheim Rhine promenade, the listed “Old Barrel Filling Hall” is being converted into a modern, multifunctional cultural centre – the Kulturraffinerie K714. The “K” stands for the culture that will be at home here, and the “714” for the Rhine kilometre at which it is located. With two event halls, several foyers and numerous cloakroom and meeting rooms, the building will offer a unique atmosphere. Thanks to its high multifunctionality and acoustic perfection, it will become an ideal venue for theatre, opera, concerts, dance, performance and large traditional events such as carnival.
We are proud to be involved in this demanding renovation and to specifically contribute our many years of expertise in premium interior fit-out, acoustics, sound insulation, revitalisation and heritage protection. A particular highlight of this project is the first-time use of the Hilti Jaibot drilling robot – a state-of-the-art technology that makes the construction process more efficient, more precise and safer.
The Hilti Jaibot is an autonomous drilling robot that performs drillings on construction sites precisely and quickly. At the Kulturraffinerie, we used the Jaibot drilling robot to carry out several thousand wall drillings for the substructure of our wall claddings in the hall building.
Our team was trained in advance, so the work could be carried out independently and in line with the construction process of our interior fit-out. By automating the wall drillings, working time was reduced and the quality of the drillings was maximised – a significant gain in efficiency and precision.
The use of the Hilti Jaibot drilling robot was a forward-looking enrichment for our trade. We are open to new technologies and look forward to future challenges, which will surely bring further innovative solutions.
About the drilling robot
The »Jaibot«, a semi-autonomous drilling robot from Hilti, can independently carry out drillings for dowel fastenings on the basis of digital planning data. The cordless robot is set up via the Hilti total station PLT 300 and positioned by remote control. During use, the robot drills and marks holes in concrete and metal-composite ceilings, and laterally in vertical concrete walls in a height range of 1.2 to 4.8 m, in line with the programmed data model. Both the desired depth and the diameter of the drill holes are precisely maintained. The Jaibot can also be used on construction sites with existing ceiling installations, because it recognises objects such as existing services or building components and adapts accordingly.
