Opening Days at Humboldt Forum Berlin

The Humboldt Forum, in the rebuilt Berlin Palace, brings together various institutions from culture and science under one roof. At the opening days at the end of September 2021, action areas enabled encounters through listening, joining the discussion, and storytelling. The action areas were spread across all floors, in the spacious entrance hall, but also outside in the Schlüterhof. The exhibition designers of the Humboldt Forum furnished the spaces with a total of 200 Xbrick multifunctional stools in many colours and with various accessories.
The various artists and experts reconfigured the action areas for their performances – intuitively, indoors and outdoors. The Xbrick became seating, a standing aid, a podium, a table or a drum box.
And in the breaks between the actions, visitors of all ages built towers, stacked Xbrick and arranged seating. Fully in line with the Humboldt Forum’s mission statement: “We create experimental free spaces for new approaches, ideas and formats. We stand for an inspiring spirit of experimentation, with the courage to take risks and not held back by the possibility of failure.”
