On the occasion of the trade fair Orgatec 2016 in Cologne, the architecture journals AIT and xia Intelligente Architektur presented the “Innovation Prize Architecture+ Office” for the ninth time. The prize is aimed at designers and manufacturers of innovative products from the areas of office furniture, office lighting and contract flooring. With the Innovation Prize Architecture+ Office 2016, the micro-workstation “Sputnik” and the table “A Plus” from the office furniture series motu were honoured. The product design was developed by wd3 for westermann products.

The architecture and design competition was initiated with the intention of recognising, among the numerous products and solutions on offer in the market, those that particularly meet the demands and concerns of architects. Important criteria for the assessment are functional and design quality, technical innovations and the variety of possible applications.

With a total of 57 submitted products from 34 companies, the response to the Innovation Prize is large and cross-industry. On the first day of the trade fair, a six-member architects’ jury reviewed the architectural quality of the submissions and selected the winners of this year’s Innovation Prize Architecture+ Office.

A total of nine prizes were awarded, including two Innovation Prizes, two Special Awards and five Distinctions.
